The LORD hears our every prayer – there are no two opinions about it. Sometimes, the LORD in His wisdom and grace answers them very soon. Sometimes, the LORD takes time to answer. In some cases, the LORD may take a long time. In some other cases, there seems to be no answer coming our way. Sounds familiar?
The Bible records a very interesting event in Daniel 10:12-13 – “12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.”
Daniel prays to the LORD, and an angel is despatched that very day. However, it took 21 days, and the assistance of the archangel Michael in defeating the enemy, and ensuring the message reach Daniel.
Let us take this incident, and see what we can benefit from it. When our prayers are delayed, we may not know the exact reason for the delay. Delay need not necessarily mean denial. Let us pray to the LORD, as we are commanded. Then simply WAIT upon the LORD for the answer. The LORD will speak to us. As we wait on Him, let us remember that it could be “YES” it could be “NO” or it could be simply “WAIT.”*
Whatever the response of the LORD, it certainly has our best interest at the heart of it. Prayer as I see, is to pray once, and then just wait upon the LORD for His response.
"If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts; for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for. The waiting itself is beneficial to us: it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission, and endears the blessing when it comes. The Lord's people have always been a waiting people."
