Those who are in positions of authority, have, not only, immense power, but also great responsibility. Everything they speak or do is magnified many times, and viewed critically. Many times, the leader is bound to experience loneliness and helplessness. The tragedy of being a leader is, he cannot show nor express his helplessness and loneliness. This is the flip side of being a leader.
We read in Mark 5:22-44, a certain “Ruler of the Synagogue” approaching Jesus, because his daughter is seriously ill. In all probability, he must have come to Jesus as a last resort. Think of the heart of this father, and his desperateness in seeking the help of a Person, who is intensely disliked and disapproved by the religious leaders of his day.
Jesus receives him warmly, and honours this man’s faith and courage. While Jesus was on the way to his home, someone from the home of that ruler of the synagogue had come, to inform the ruler, not to bother the Master anymore, since the child is dead.
“36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.” – Mark 5:36. It is noteworthy to read the words – “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue…” It speaks about the heart of our LORD, and the concern he has for us and our problems.
The lesson for us – there is no situation that we are in, is beyond the reach of our LORD. He rules the seas and the wind; He reigns over everything that is seen and unseen. He is the TRUE RULER!!! A Ruler who’s is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent. Isn’t that comforting? Let us remind ourselves of our God, and walk in faith and obedience. He will take care of everything.
"Relying on God has to start all over everyday, as if nothing has yet been done."
