All who hope in the LORD Jesus Christ, and come to Him in faith, will not be disappointed, but rather be helped and saved. Isn’t that so wonderful!!! It sure is…and that is the message of the Cross of Calvary!
Whatever may be our past and our present – we don’t need to worried about it. All that is required of us, is to come just as we are, with all our burden, to the cross of Calvary, and the Redeemer will take our load off us, and grant us grace to face the future in His strength. Isn’t that wonderful!!!
This is precisely what had happened in Luke 7:36-40, where a lady with disrepute washes the feet of Jesus with her tears, and an expensive perfume, while He was at a meal in the house of Simon, a Pharisee.
It is unclear how this lady could gain entrance into the house. What is striking is that, she is truly repenting her life and her lifestyle, and threw herself at the feet of the Saviour, for help with her guilt, and a hope for the future. This is, a sincere heart seeking the Saviour!!!
The LORD, ever so mindful of sincere hearts, looks at this lady of disrepute, with gentleness, care, concern and civility, and restores her dignity through the forgiveness of her sins – “48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.” – Luke 7:48.
Then Jesus commends her publicly by saying – “50…Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” – Luke 7:50. Jesus saw the heart of the lady. He saw her sincerity, and her utter hopelessness. Seeing her, the LORD responds appropriately. Isn’t this wonderful!!!
The LORD gives hope to all who are hopeless. He doesn’t abandon anyone who ever comes to Him, with a sincere heart. The LORD restores our lives, and renews us for His glory, and for the blessing of His people. Therefore, it is the best thing for us to seek shelter under the Almighty’s wings. Have you found that shelter like the lady above?
"Consider diligently these words, without works, by faith only, freely we receive remission of our sins. What can be spoken more plainly, than to say, that freely without works, by faith only, we obtain remission of our sins?"
