General consensus all over the world, about increase in crime rate, is not a good sign of what is happening in the world, and what is to come. Crime, and the pursuit of it, as a means to get what one thinks is their legitimate right, is an indicator of human heart, the standards we are upholding as a society. This is the reality of life today.
The society at large has done away with God, and His moral standards. The conscience that was reminding us of the immutable laws of the LORD God Almighty, is ruthlessly crushed day after day, by man, who passionately desires to ‘live freely’ – in other words, ‘as he pleases’ – in simple words – ‘lawlessness.’ What we are reaping today – the lawlessness and the ever deepening decay, plunging us towards utter destruction – is the result of our rejection of God our Creator, and His moral law as the foundation of all our dealings.
The Bible talks about something very profound in an easy to understand manner. Please do not despise it, nor take it lightly – “20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. 23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. 24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. 26 Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. 27 Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.” – Proverbs 4:20-27
The remedy for our hearts that passionately pursues lawlessness is, the LORD Jesus Christ, and His offer of total transformation. Nothing short of this can help us – “26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” – Ezekiel 36:26-27
May we, as the ambassadors of Jesus, and the gospel bearers, continue to be His representatives as the salt and light, of the society we live in. So God help us.
"The reason we have 17,000 pages in our law books is because we cannot follow 10 lines in a tablet made of stone."
