The cross, that has become the symbol of love, forgiveness and sacrifice, though it is intended to be a cruel form of punishment. The cross which is both painful and shameful, has brought to us our salvation. Isn’t that Good News? It sure is!!!
The Word of God says – “10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead…12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:10,12.
Let us remember always…
1- Salvation is a free gift of God, and it is not something that we can earn it, or buy it, by human effort, good deeds or money. Romans 6:23 says – “23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2- For we are unable to save ourselves, and utterly unable to help ourselves from our sin, nor its consequences. Ephesians 2:8 says – “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,”
3- Salvation has come to us, because, God our Creator, in Christ Jesus, chose to die for the sins of the world, and pay the price for our redemption. 1 Timothy 2:5 says – “5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,”
May the LORD Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer, help us know the truth about salvation. May we, by knowing it, be ever so grateful to Him for this free gift, which is both precious and priceless – something that we can never ever earn it ourselves.
"It is not thy hold on Christ that saves thee; it is Christ. It is not thy joy in Christ that saves thee; it is Christ. It is not even thy faith in Christ, though that be the instrument; it is Christ's blood and merit."
