THE “PROBLEM” CALLED TRUTH

Truth is uncompromising in Bible’s view. God Himself is truth. Lies and its relatives are abhorred and detested. Satan is called the father of lies. The distinction drawn between truth and lies is absolutely clear. As Christians, we are commanded to follow the truth.

However, many times it appears that Truth is slow…Truth is passive…Truth is inactive…Truth is obscure…Truth is hidden…Truth is silent…Truth is mute…Truth is powerless…Truth is helpless…Truth is hopeless…Truth is losing. It may be disheartening to many.
It doesn’t matter how truth may appear to anyone, including us.

It doesn’t matter how truth is perceived by people and us. Truth is made up of something far stronger than what may appear to us, from the outside. This is what matters.

Truth is fire. Truth is light. Truth is a sharp sword. When it beings to move it will burn all chaff. It surely will shine brightly through any amount of darkness. It will cut through all doubts and deceit. Truth doesn’t need any external assistance, help or support. It always stands alone. Truth is more than enough to defend itself. Such is the power of truth!

Lies appear formidable, and are usually, very convincing in its appeal. Truth on the other part, may appear unconcerned about countering the lies, and disinterested in defending itself. Thomas Fuller’s words sum up the essence of both lies and truth very well – “If I speak what is false, I must answer for it; if truth, it will answer for me.” Truth doesn’t require any defending. It stands for itself. How true, and how comforting!

All it takes on our part, is to patiently wait for truth to reveal itself. Time is a great healer. Much more than that, Time is a great revealer of truth. Time will bring all hidden and obscure things to light. Time will shatter the walls built by lies, manipulation and half-truths. Such a day, is only a matter of time. Therefore wait.

It takes patience, and a steely resolve to hold on to truth. It is worth every penny. Let us keep our heads, hearts and hands clean, when bullied by lies. The truth will reveal itself. It will help us stand with our head held high. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Just hold on. Allow truth some time, and the truth will restore to us our due. Have we forgotten so soon, the Joseph old?
