Many times it is observable that man behaves as if he is a law unto himself. It is as though there is no law nor power above him. Such a thing is a proud outlook, and an arrogant attitude. It is a reflection of the evil in man’s heart and his motives. It is sad and tragic that many times, such an attitude in man is applauded and appreciated as someone, who has the strength and assertiveness, to speak his mind,
and stand by it.
The LORD, in His Word, the Bible has these words recorded for our reading, and for us to gain insight into what He actually thinks on such matters, and what He truly values. It is good for us to pay serious attention to the following words of the Bible.
– “16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” – Proverbs 6:16-19
It is good for us to note the two sets of simple yet powerful words that the Bible uses in the above verses. These words should catch our utmost attention, and we should pay our careful and undivided attention in understanding them. For in understanding them, is the key to our happiness.
– THESE SIX THINGS DOTH THE LORD HATE.
– YES, SEVEN ARE AN ABOMINATION UNTO HIM.
The LORD HATES certain things; and certain things are an ABOMINATION to our LORD. Now, what are those six things that the LORD HATES, and are an ABOMINATION to Him?
– A PROUD LOOK
– A LYING TONGUE
– HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD
– A HEART THAT DEVISES WICKED PLANS
– FEET THAT ARE SWIFT IN RUNNING TO EVIL
– A FALSE WITNESS WHO SPEAKS LIES
– ONE WHO SOWS DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN
Most of us would fail, if the above list were applied to us. Many who claim to be Christians and Christian nations, built on rich Christian heritage, also fail. Isn’t it so? What is much worse than such a state is, if we choose to be blind and ignore them. No one can help us if we choose to be blind, and want to blindly believe that we are GOOD, and that there is none as good as us, in the entire world. That moral superiority complex makes the person so totally blind that they cannot see that “the emperor has no clothes.”
What should truly terrify us is that the LORD God Almighty, the God of all creation, the God of the Bible, the LORD Jesus Christ, cannot be deceived or hoodwinked. The LORD is OMNISCIENT – One who knows and sees everything – both, said and unsaid.
– “21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.” – Proverbs 5:21
When the LORD begins to work His justice and implement His righteous judgements, it would cut us through and through. Let us always remember, and never ever forget that, “THE WAYS OF “MAN” ARE BEFORE THE EYES OF THE LORD.” Therefore, even before such a day comes, let us seek the LORD to help us to see our own faults and our own sins. Let us ask God to help us confess our faults without any excuses and justification; and accept our sins as quickly as possible, with utmost transparently. Even so the LORD help us.
"...wisdom consists in recognizing that human life is ever under the observation, and within the government, of Jehovah."
