One of the most widely known hymns, that we sing in the Church is, the Doxology. The words of this hymn, written by Thomas Ken, in 1674, are sung to the tune “Old 100th”. It is often sung as a song of praise, thanks and worship, across all denominations, all the goodness we have received the LORD God Almighty.
The words of this hymn are as follows… “Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!”
Doxology, as we all know it, is a short song, but is comprehensive in its scope and meaning. It is an expression of praise to God for all that He has done for us. As we can see, at the heart of of it, the doxology is both a song of praise, and a hymn of thanksgiving. It is a deep and heartfelt expression of gratitude to God “from whom all blessings flow.”
The Word of God says, “15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” – Hebrews 13:15. WHAT IS YOUR SONG TODAY?
"Worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness, the nourishment of the mind with His truth, the purifying of the imagination of His beauty, the opening of the heart to His love, the surrender of the will to His purpose."
