Heart is the power-house of a human being. It is also the seat of all human emotions. ‘One feels with our heart’ is an expression that speaks about human feelings and emotions. Of course, it is not the physical heart that does this function, but a part in our mind.
The Word of God has some powerful insights into our hearts – “23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” “45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” “21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.” – Proverbs 4:23, Luke 6:45, Mark 7:21-23
Heart is where everything begins and ends. Therefore, the Word of God encourages, advises, and admonishes us, so straight, and in a no nonsense manner. The following anonymous quote speaks well to us and our hearts – “A person with a harsh tongue has an angry heart.
A person with a negative tongue has a fearful heart.A person with an overactive tongue has an unsettled heart.
A person with a boasting tongue has an insecure heart.
A person with a filthy tongue has an impure heart.
A person who is critical all the time has a bitter heart.”
On the other hand…
“A person who is always encouraging has a happy heart.
A person who speaks gently has a loving heart.
A person who speaks truthfully has an honest heart.”
The law of the nature is this – “What comes out of the well is, what is inside of it.” What is in our hearts? What is coming out of our hearts? What kind of hearts do we have?
"The human heart has so many crannies where vanity hides, so many holes where falsehood works, is so decked out with deceiving hypocrisy - that it often dupes itself!"
