There are times in our lives when the whole world around us comes crashing down like a pack of cards. Everything that we cherished is crumbling right in front of our eyes, and we are helpless to do anything about it. It is as though we are a powerless bystander in our own lives. WHEN EVERYTHING COMES CRASHING DOWN not only our hearts and minds are in despair, but everything looks gloomy and hopeless. The spirit to rise up to stop the falling apart simply isn’t there; and the power to set things right doesn’t seem to exist at all. It is a terribly bad situation and one can’t do anything about it. What a situation it is, to be in such a state.
The Jews, including the disciples were expecting a political Messiah. They simply couldn’t get around it because, the idea of such a Messiah was deeply ingrained in their hearts and minds. Therefore it is but natural that they are so disheartened, disillusioned and disappointed. Their world was shattered and they were left helpless, like sheep without the Shepherd.
Many times we go through similar situation. We have our own ideas about our LORD and our own interpretation of things. When the LORD chooses to work according to divine wisdom, purposes and timeline, our world gets shattered. Then, we just like the disciples are, disheartened, disillusioned and disappointed.
Is such a situation familiar to us? Are our “dreams” shattered? Are we hanging in the air, with no hope of any helping hand reaching out to us? Is our world shattered? Are we in a hopeless situation? Take heart dear brothers and sisters, we are not alone. Most of us go through situations like the disciples did.
– “31 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’” – Matthew 26:31
Even though our world can come crashing down, but we don’t need to be disheartened, disillusioned and disappointed. Let us never forget; rather, let us always remember that, our LORD Jesus is our Good Shepherd, who came to lay down His life for His sheep. He will take care of everything.
– “4 For You have been a strength to the poor, A strength to the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm, A shade from the heat; For the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.” – Isaiah 25:4
The LORD who was with the disciple then, is with us even too today. Take heart, trust God and step out in faith. God our LORD is good, gracious and merciful. He will lead us and guide us through it all – however dark and dangerous our situation may be. Even so, the LORD help us.
"...a layered portrait of the LORD’s unwavering protection: He shelters the poorest, fortifies the neediest, calms life’s storms, cools exhausting heat, and renders ruthless attacks futile. The verse calls believers to rest confidently in His proven refuge, knowing that no external force can penetrate the safe haven He Himself provides."
