WISDOM FROM GOD – “SOUND WISDOM AND DISCRETION – LET THEM NOT DEPART FROM THEE”

A Christian’s life is fraught with unseen dangers, lurking in the dark shadows, and waiting to strike us, when we least expect it. The LORD had spoken clearly about this, in His Word, the Bible, that we fight not with the faces that are seen, but rather, with the spirits, powers and principalities that are unseen and invisible.
– “12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 6:12

The portion for our meditation for this morning is from Proverbs 3:21-26. This passage gives us critical inputs for our walk as Christians, and how to face the dangers that are lurking in the dark shadows, and overcome them successfully. The LORD knows it all, and has it written it down for us. Let us read it…
– “21 My son, let them not depart from your eyes – Keep sound wisdom and discretion; 22 So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck. 23 Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble. 24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. 25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; 26 For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.” – Proverbs 3:21-26

The Word of God is so precise in addressing troubling and pressing issues that test our faith and our strength. The LORD Jesus is the “All Sufficient God” and He walks before us as our Good Shepherd, to take care of anything and everything that concerns us. We don’t need to be worried, disturbed, scared, afraid or troubled in any sense of these words. God is with us!!!
– Our battles are real.
– Our battles are with unseen powers of darkness.
– HalleluYah!!! Our battles belong to the LORD of Hosts, the Most High God. 
– It is He who will fight for us, and not we on our own.

We are called, on our part, to do two specific things. This is a must, and is in fact, the key to all our fights and our victories, through the LORD.
– MY SON, LET THEM NOT DEPART FROM YOUR EYES”
– “KEEP SOUND WISDOM AND DISCRETION;”
David Guzik, writing on the above verses observes that, “Solomon [the writer of the above passage] told his son the importance of constant attention to God’s wisdom and discretion. This requires not only a life-diligence, but also an appropriately surrendered heart that recognizes that God’s wisdom and discretion are greater than my own.”
– ” 1 My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. 2 Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. 3 Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart.” – Proverbs 7:1-3

When we, one, “KEEP SOUND WISDOM AND DISCRETION” and two, “LET THEM NOT DEPART FROM OUR EYES” then we will see the MIGHTY OMNIPOTENCE HAND OF OUR GOD moving on our behalf, to keep us safe and secure through anything and everything that is thrown at us, by our enemy. Let us read what the Word of God further says in Proverbs 3:22-26…
– “So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck.”
– “Then you will walk safely in your way”
– “your foot will not stumble”
– “When you lie down, you will not be afraid”
– “Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet”
– “Do not be afraid of sudden terror”
– “Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes”
– “For the LORD will be your confidence”
– “And will keep your foot from being caught”

The LORD will always stand strong and mighty beside us. He will not abandon us in the hour of our need. If we look carefully, the LORD is ALWAYS with us, right next to us, in the boat of our lives – Luke 4:35-41. He is resting, not because He does not care for us. He is resting because He knows everything. He will move at the time appointed – in the fullness of time, just as He did in the plan of redemption – Galatians 4:4. 

The LORD Jesus who paid with His very own blood for our redemption, will not let us down. He will take care of us, and all our needs. Meanwhile, let us learn to TRUST GOD, and OBEY HIM in all our thoughts, words and deeds. Even so, the LORD help us.
