The hope that a Christian has is a very different kind of hope than what the world offers. Our hope is not a mere feeling, that comes and goes with the mood in the air. It is not something that oscillates between nothingness and uncertainty. Christian hope is firmly founded in the LORD God our Creator, “8 Jesus Christ [who] is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Whenever I think of our hope, I am reminded of Edward Mote’s [1797-1884] hymn, “My hope is found on nothing less…” Isn’t that wonderful? The stanzas speak such hope, firmly founded on the Scriptures!!!
“My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand.”
What is your hope resting on? If it is your own ability and skill, it doesn’t have much of a chance to survive long. Let us build our hope on the LORD, who is yet to break His promise…which He never will. He is out sure hope!!!
"Hope is called the anchor of the soul (Hebrews 6:19) because it gives stability to the Christian life. But hope is not simply a ‘wish’ (I wish that such-and-such would take place); rather, it is that which latches on to the certainty of the promises of the future that God has made."
