Gaining freedom is just one part of the true life. It also involves, safeguarding the same. Christian freedom or liberty is not something that we can earn. So also, safeguarding it is also not in our hands. So, what then should we do?
We are commanded by the LORD to walk worthy of the name of the LORD. Also, we are urged, to stand fast or to stand strong in the faith, no matter what we face. Our steadfastness reveals our commitment to the LORD, in the face of adversity and storms. This is essential for us as the disciples of the LORD Jesus.
The Word of God has these words for the early Christians, and also to us – “15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.” “27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,” “15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 17 Honour everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the emperor.” “16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:15; Philippians 1:27; 1 Peter 2:15-17; Matthew 5:16
May the good LORD help us to be steadfast and strong in our walk with the LORD, so that our faith and our freedom in Him is displayed unambiguously, to all around us. Even so, help us LORD.
"We must not adopt the world's view and then tweak it to make it Christian. We must draw a line in the sand and stand firm in the radical teachings of Christ and His gospel. We must preach the truth and be the examples of the truth we preach."
