THE MASTER, AND THE MONEY

The LORD Jesus, when he was speaking to the disciples, about the heart of man, and our allegiance to God, “surprisingly” money got the place, next to God. Words of the LORD Jesus are plain and clear – “24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” – Matthew 6:24

The Bible, which is the written Word of God, has more than 2,000 references related to money. It will surprise us to know that, the Bible has twice the number of verses about money, than faith and prayer combined together. Let us consider these statistics on money in the Bible:
– 16 out of 38 of Jesus’ parables deal with money and possessions – 42% of the parables.
– Nearly 25% of Jesus’ words in the New Testament deal with biblical stewardship.
– 1 out of 10 verses in the Gospels deal with money.
– There are more than 2,000 Bible verses on tithing, money, and possessions in the Bible.

The LORD wants us to know and understand, the power of money and greed, which, if unchecked, can not only control us, but utterly destroy us. The warning, which is laid out in the Word of God, is plain and clear – “10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” – 1 Timothy 6:10
