The title given to Psalm 62 is “A Calm Resolve to Wait for the Salvation of God.” It is a Psalm written by King David. David Guzik commenting on the psalm says, “Psalm 62 seems to come from a time of trouble, yet it asks God for nothing. It is full of faith and trust, but has no fear, no despair, and no petition.”
David declares his unflinching faith in God, and surrenders himself to the LORD willingly, and waits upon Him in silence and in patience – not an easy proposition. Psalm 62 is an insightful and inspirational Psalm, to help us to wait calmly for the LORD to resolve all that is troubling us. This is precisely what David does – “1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.”
“5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.”
“8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.” Psalms 62:1,5,8.
George Müller puts it across very well about the struggles of man, when we ought to trust God, and patiently wait upon Him – “The natural mind is ever prone to reason, when we ought to believe; to be at work, when we ought to be quiet; to go our own way, when we ought steadily to walk on in God’s ways.” So God help us.
"This is why God keeps you waiting. All that is of self and nature must be silence; one voice after another cease to boast; one light after another be put out; until the soul is shut up to God alone."
