A man on a mission, is always thinking about the task in hand. He does not idle aways his time, talents and opportunities. Rather, he is thinking of ways and means to maximise his time, talents and opportunities, so that, he would be effective in his task entrusted to him. The LORD had given us a task and a mission.
– “9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” – 1 Peter 2:9
Herein is the mission and the task entrusted to us – “…that YE SHOULD SHEW FORTH the PRAISES of HIM who HATH CALLED YOU out of DARKNESS into HIS MARVELLOUS LIGHT.”
– “The purpose for these high privileges is not so we can grow proud, but so that we can proclaim the praises of Him who has done such great things for us. i. Since it is true that believers have a new life principle (chosen generation), a new access to God (royal priesthood), a new government (holy nation), and a new owner (His own special people), it will affect the way the believer lives life…” – David Guzik
We are called to live for God, and not for ourselves. We are called to be God’s ambassadors – 2 Corinthians 5:17-20. We are to proclaim the gospel at all times, to all people; if any come to Christ, we are to teach them, all what the LORD had taught us, in His Written Word – Matthew 28:18-20.
As God’s children, Christ is the object of our attention, our adoration, our worship and our focus. Let this simple fact, never go out of focus, in all that we ever do in life. All what we do, is for the glory of God. There is no secular and sacred life, for a disciple of Christ. Everything is sacred. Therefore, God should be the center of all our activities, and He alone should be the One highlighted, and displayed, for the world to see in us, and through us, in our thoughts, words and deeds.
Many a talented man and woman, have missed this focus, and have got side-tracked. They wasted the privilege and honour, to be God’s ambassadors. They lost the opportunity to be a channel of blessings, in the hands of God. Their lives have become wasted lives.
Also, beware the sin of Lucifer, who shifted his attention from his God, and his Creator, and began to assume for himself a role, that never was his, in the first place. Remember the words of John the Baptist, the forerunner to the Saviour.
– “6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.” – John 1:6-8
Don’t ever get side-tracked by the applause and appreciation of man, however good it may be, and however deserving one may be. Let Jesus be the sole focus of all that we want, desire, and do, in our lives. This will keep us safe and secure, from tripping, and destroying ourselves, and all that God wants to do, in and through us. John the Baptist is a very fine example in this regard.
– “19 Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” 20 He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” 21 And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” 22 Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” 23 He said: “I am The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the LORD,” ’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” 24 Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees. 25 And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” 26 John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. 27 It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.” – John 1:19-27
How about us? Are we being true to our calling? Are we focussed on our calling? Are we living that life that God had called us to? Let us seek God to help us live for Him, and Him alone. Even so, the LORD help us.
"Paul sees that he serves in a foreign land as the representative of a King. The King has a message, and Paul is delivering that message as though God were pleading through us. i. There is so much to the idea of being ambassadors! An ambassador does not speak to please his audience, but the King who sent him. An ambassador does not speak on his own authority; his own opinions or demands mean little. He simply says what he has been commissioned to say. But an ambassador is more than a messenger; he is also a representative, and the honour and reputation of his country are in his hands."
