Peter is ‘earthly’ in his personality. He is like many of us. At some point or the other, all of us display the traits of Peter in our lives. He is impulsive in his heart and mind. Sometimes he speaks out, or does things, and then probably, thinks about it. In Telugu Peter is at times, referred to as, “Duduku” Peturu, meaning impulsive Peter.
Peter is not just that, though it may be the dominant trait visible to us. He is much more than simply “duduku.” Peter, is much like a child. He was deeply committed to his Master and His cause. Though he is human in a range of traits, yet he is quick to repent and correct his course. Isn’t that a great trait? It requires humility to repent. It requires a crushing of the self, ‘ego’ if we may like it, and then say sorry. No wonder, God chose him to be one of the pillars of the early Church.
May the LORD help us to live a life worthy of our LORD, Master and Redeemer. May the LORD be lifted up and glorified in and through our lives.
"All men will be Peters in their bragging tongue, and most men will be Peters in their base denial; but few men will be Peters in their quick repentance."
