We enjoy the blessings and the benefits from the LORD every moment of our lives. This is true, whether one realises and sees them or not. From the moment we are born, till the moment we are no more, we are the recipients of God’s goodness, grace and mercy. But for the LORD’s generosity, we would be dead and gone. Let us remember it always.
It is not enough to merely remember the mercies of God – “they are new every morning” – Lamentations 3:22-27. We need to learn to be thankful and grateful to the LORD all the days of our lives. If we truly know the worth of all that we are enjoying, despite we being sinful, wicked, evil and utterly helpless and lost, we would never be silent.
Let us join the Psalmist, who realised this, and be grateful and thankful to the LORD our God – “1 Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
2 Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them.”
3 Full of splendour and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.
4 He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful.
5 He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.” – Psalm 111:1-5
"A sensible thanksgiving for mercies received is a mighty prayer in the Spirit of God. It prevails with Him unspeakably."
