Navigating life is a critical and essential aspect of a healthy and successful human being. Everyone of us struggle while navigating life. This nothing unusual or abnormal. This is how Life and learning are designed to be. In other words it is the process of life and learning. The quicker we learn it, the better it is for us.
Life is not as simple as it appears to us. Neither is it as complex and complicated as it is made out to be. Knowing what it is and how to navigate helps us face life and all its challenges better. The quicker we learn it, the better it is for us.
One of the key factors for navigating well in life, lies in our health, how we approach it, and how we apply ourselves to maintaining it. Health of an individual is very important for the progress and the success in life. This is important for us to realise it. Health has multiple dimensions – this is important for us to recognise it. Health has mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and social dimensions to it. There has to be a proper balance between these dimensions, before anyone can progress well in life.
Such a balance is also called as “Work Life Balance” – it is one of the most important lessons to be learnt by everyone.
– Some have nothing but work on their minds. Such an attitude that runs in their veins, will usher in, nothing but ruin, sooner or latter.
– Some have everything else on their agenda but work. They want to enjoy life, but don’t want to work for it. This too brings ruin, because pretty soon frustration creeps in, before life crumbles.
Work Life Balance is…
– to know the priorities of life.
– to pursue proper and balanced priorities passionately.
– Work is meant to keep us provided.
– Work keeps our creative side engaged.
– Work leads to achievement – big or small – which helps our self-esteem, which in turn keeps us satisfied and stable.
– Work is essential, but is not to be worshipped.
– Work is not our whole life.
– Life is much bigger than work itself.
Life is designed by our Creator to include various dimensions in it. Work is an important dimension for our progress. Balance in life is equally important and essential for our healthy and wholesome progress.
– “15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” – Genesis 2:15
– “17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. 18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” – Genesis 3:17-19
– “10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.” – Ecclesiastes 9:10
– “10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10
May the LORD help us to balance the various essential dimensions of our life, to have a balance and wholesome progress. May the LORD help us to navigate well in our lives. May the LORD help us to navigating life with balance and poise. Even so the LORD help us.
"We can’t overcome workaholism if we love money and status too much. We can’t overcome bitterness or slander if we love our reputation too much. It is not just willpower but a reordering of our desires that will bring wisdom...Prayer: Lord, help me to guard my heart. Just as I don’t want to digest or take bad things into my body, give me the wisdom and self-control not to allow toxic images and beliefs into my heart through my imagination and thoughts."
