It is true, that the need for relationship is built into us. However, the human need for relationships and friendship needs to be tempered and harnessed. If not, we will end up in a wrong place. The Bible says, “33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33. The above words of wisdom, makes it imperative upon us, to be careful about, whom we choose to be our friends and companions. This can make or mar our ability, to be a force for good, and a blessing to the people around.
The warnings are clear from the Word of God – “1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;” – Psalms 1:1
The LORD further instructs us through the Bible – “10 My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. 11 If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause…” “15 My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; 16 For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood.” – Proverbs 1:10-11; 15-16
Be careful while choosing friends and companions. They can lead us astray. Once we make wrong choices, we will have to endure its consequences, which could be serious losses…and in some cases, irreparable damage. Why step into dirt, and then, wash ourselves? Isn’t that foolish?
"If you choose bad companions, no one will believe that you are anything but bad yourself."
