The LORD is our strong tower of refuge. It speaks not only of our safety and security, but has multiple dimensions to it. Let us always run to our God for everything we would ever need. Only in Him, we find our wholesome blessing.
– “10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” – Proverbs 18:10
Let us meditate, this morning, on the name “JEHOVAH SHAMMAH” – which when translated means “THE LORD IS THERE” emphasising God’s presence, and His nearness.
– “35 All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.” – Ezekiel 48:35
The name, JEHOVAH SHAMMAH is a reminder to us about God’s commitment to us, as Someone who has promised His presence to be with us, always. It is also a reflection of His immutable character, that never changes. JEHOVAH SHAMMAH is the embodiment and the essence of, all what God had promised His children, throughout the Bible, the Word of God.
– “The name “THE LORD IS THERE” (Yahweh Shammah) encapsulates the essence of God’s promise to dwell among His people. This divine presence is a central theme throughout the Bible, from the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:8) to the Tabernacle (Exodus 25:8) and the Temple (1 Kings 8:10-11). It foreshadows the ultimate fulfillment in the New Jerusalem, where God will dwell with humanity eternally (Revelation 21:3). This name signifies God’s faithfulness and the restoration of the relationship between God and His people, a theme fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who is called “Immanuel,” meaning “God with us” (Matthew 1:23).” – Berean Study Bible
Here are some promises of God,, that remind us of JEHOVAH SHAMMAH, and His immutable character. May they help strengthen our faith and our walk.
– “6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6
– “5…For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” – Hebrews 13:5b-6
– “23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23
– “24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24
– “3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:3
– “6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” – Philippians 1:6
– “20…- and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:20b
May the LORD who is There with Us, be our Guide, and our Help, to ensure that, we walk faithfully and obediently with Him, and in all His ways. Even so the LORD help us.
"The name of the city shall be no longer Jerusalem ("the vision of peace"), but Adonai-shama ("the Lord is there") (rather, Jehovah-shammah, "Jehovah is there"), because Yahweh will never again withdraw from it, as He once withdrew, but will hold it as His everlasting possession."
