May 20, 2026What is it that we desire the most in life? These innermost desires of ours reveals a lot about us, and who we actually are. Many people desire many things in life. Most people desire material and earthly things. A small percentage of people desire godly things. Very few people, among Christians, are kingdom conscious, and desire everything in their life, accordingly. This is the reality of life, here on earth.
As we continue to study Proverbs chapter three, let us look at Proverbs 3:14-15 for our meditation this morning. It reveals to us great spiritual truths about the value and the worth of godly wisdom, in contrast with some of the best, this world may offer to us.
– “14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.” – Proverbs 3:14-15
The Word of God gives us clear direction as Christians, what we should desire for, with all our hearts. Our ability to desire or choose one over the other reveals the state of our spiritual life and its standard of maturity. The Bible makes it crystal clear that, any given day, “WISDOM IS BETTER THAN CHOICE SILVER, FINE GOLD AND PRECIOUS RUBIES”
– “For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver”
– “Her gain than fine gold.”
– “She is more precious than rubies”
– ” All the things you may desire cannot compare with her.”
Can there be anything more clearer than these words? Wisdoms proceeds are betters than profits made through silver. What one gains through wisdom is greater than fine gold. Wisdom is more precious than priceless rubies. In simple summing up of the contrast, the LORD Jesus says that, all what the world offers to is as the very best of best, actually are no comparison at all to the godly wisdom. This statement can be said without any hesitation and doubt. This is the reality of life, as the LORD wants us to grasp.
– “10 Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold; 11 For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.” – Proverbs 8:10-11
– “16 How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” – Proverbs 16:16
Do we believe what the LORD speaks to us as true? Do we desire godly wisdom more than anything that this world may offer to us? Let us know this for sure, dear brothers and sisters – on any given day, “WISDOM IS BETTER THAN CHOICE SILVER, FINE GOLD AND PRECIOUS RUBIES.” May we, with all our hearts, desire the wisdom of God. May we search for it diligently in the Scriptures which our LORD had given to us. May we seek the face of the LORD to help us gain this wisdom that He gives. Even so, the LORD help us.
