YAHWEH, the LORD God of all Creation, is faithful and trust worthy. There are no two opinions about it. Such, unparalleled faithfulness should instil confidence in us, and calm, if there are any troubling concerns.
The prophet Jeremiah, who is aptly called, “The Weeping Prophet” has some profound wisdom in the face of such unprecedented death, destruction and disillusionment. He says, “21 This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope.
22 Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” 25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. 26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the LORD. 27 It is good for a man to bear The yoke in his youth.” – Lamentations 3:21-27
The book of Lamentations is about the death and destruction of Jerusalem by the invading Babylonian armies. It speaks about the City of God, which is now more a city reduced to rubble, and lies barren and shattered. Yet, the prophet says, “21 This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. 22 Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
Whatever is troubling you should not trouble anymore. The LORD is with us. In fact, He never left us. Take courage from God’s faithfulness and His grace. Let us, like prophet Jeremiah, declare aloud, “25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. 26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the LORD.”
"Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father. There is no shadow of turning with Thee. Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not. As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be."
