Wisdom that comes from God is a multidimensional blessing. It helps us think wisely and helps us gain deeper understanding, which in turn will result in spiritual, physical, material and every other sort of blessings. When we turn to God, obey Him faithfully, then the whole thing turns on its head, and the blessing of the LORD will transform our lives. They key is to trust God and obey Him…but with a pure heart, and not with an eye on blessings. In simple words, GODLY WISDOM is “A BLESSING BEYOND IMAGINATION!”
– “16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.” – Proverbs 3:16-18
Have we noticed all what is listed in these three verses? It has all what the world is madly running after. Let us read them first.
– “LENGTH OF DAYS IS IN HER RIGHT HAND”
– “IN HER LEFT HAND RICHES AND HONOUR”
– “HER WAYS ARE WAYS OF PLEASANTNESS”
– “ALL HER PATHS ARE PEACE”
– “SHE IS A TREE OF LIFE TO THEM THAT LAY HOLD UPON HER”
– “HAPPY IS EVERY ONE THAT RETAINETH HER.
This is what we can understand from the above words from the Bible. The LORD wants to give us good things, but the way those blessings are given to us, has to be good too. For example – one can earn money by hard work and wise investments of time, talents and resources. One can also accumulate money by cheating, manipulation and stealing. In both cases, the person ends up having a lot of money. However, both the cases are worlds apart. One is good and right. The other is bad and wrong. One is the Narrow Way, and the other is the Broad Way.
The LORD is speaking to us very clearly…
– Firstly, TRUST God and OBEY Him, and the blessings would flow but naturally.
– Secondly, the blessing of the LORD adds no sorrow with it.
– “22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” – Proverbs 10:22
“Embracing God’s wisdom produces a balanced, God-honoring life marked by longevity, provision, and respect—tangible evidence that walking in the fear of the LORD is the surest path to true prosperity.” comments the Berean Study Bible Notes, on the blessings listed in Proverbs 3:16-18.
Only a fool would want to forego what God wants to give, and run after the things which the world offers to us. What God gives is precious, priceless and eternal. What the world offers is not only not permanent, but is also fleeting and faltering…on top of that, it is fragile and perishable in not time. So dear brothers and sisters, what do we want to do about Proverbs 3:16-18? The list of blessings is the product of intentionally walking with a clean heart on a certain way, which our LORD had made it abundantly clear.
– “30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:30-33
Would we be interested to walk on God’s righteous paths? Would we want to invest our time, our talents and above all our hearts to walk on this Narrow Way? Think about it. WISDOM FROM GOD enables us to walk on a way which is “A BLESSING BEYOND IMAGINATION!” Such a blessing is good and satisfying. May we always desire to walk on the path that our LORD is desiring for us. Even so the LORD help us.
"...No precious jewels or earthly treasures are worthy to be compared with true wisdom, whether the concerns of time or eternity be considered. We must make wisdom our business; we must venture all in it, and be willing to part with all for it. This Wisdom is the Lord Jesus Christ and his salvation, sought and obtained by faith and prayer. Were it not for unbelief, remaining sinfulness, and carelessness, we should find all our ways pleasantness, and our paths peace, for his are so; but we too often step aside from them, to our own hurt and grief. Christ is that Wisdom, by whom the worlds were made, and still are in being; happy are those to whom he is made of God wisdom. He has wherewithal to make good all his promises."
