Jealousy or envy, as it is also called, is a vicious trait. It eats the person from inside, and makes them beasts, who would do just about anything, to get what they desire…if allowed to run free.
Jealous people are usually weak and insecure. Add to that an inferiority complex, and we have a dangerous combination for self-destruction, and destruction of everything around.
Saul was jealous about David. He was insecure about his future as the king of Israel. He was jealous and insecure because he was inferior in his mind, opinion and attitude. Therefore Saul lost it.
The LORD gives us what we need. Let us hold on to it, and invest our time, effort and energy to increase it. Let us not worry about anything else. Rather be thankful and grateful to all that we received.
There will always be people who are better than us. It is a fact. Let us be content with what we have. Let be thankful and grateful to the LORD for what we are blessed with. *Instead of becoming insecure, and feel inferior, and begin to envy the others, let us double up our efforts to adapt and improve ourselves.
The LORD gave to some five talents; to some two; to some others, only one talent. How many we have received is irrelevant, compared to the fact that, the LORD gave us according to our abilities…and expects us to improve upon what we have received – Matthew 25:15-30.
Therefore, let us stay focused on what the LORD had blessed us with, and seek the LORD to help us improve ourselves. This will do us a great good, and we would do a better job.
"Self-love is, no doubt, the usual foundation of human jealousy...the fear lest another should by any means supplant us."
