Love is the central theme of the Bible. Love is God’s way of doing things. The LORD is looking for this trait in us – to LOVE GOD above all else in our life. Do we not remember the Ten Commandments? The first four commandments deal with the above subject.
What the LORD Jesus taught on the Mount is perfectly in line with it – “37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” – Matthew 22:37-40
Paul reminds the Galatian Church of the same in Galatians 5:14 “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
LOVE, as the LORD requires of us, needs to be demonstrated through our “Unwavering FAITH in God; Complete and Implicit OBEDIENCE in all that He asks of us, and a Willingness to SACRIFICE Anything and Everything that He asks of us.”
How about our love for God today? How healthy is it? Is it strong and vibrant? “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” – Matthew 6:24
"When I have learnt to love God better than my earthly dearest, I shall love my earthly dearest better than I do now…When first things are put first, second things are not suppressed but increased."
