LOVE, that the LORD requires of us, has to be visibly demonstrated through our “Unwavering FAITH in God; Complete and Implicit OBEDIENCE in all that He asks of us, and a Willingness to SACRIFICE Anything and Everything that He asks of us.”
Love for the LORD our God is reflected in the active demonstration of our FAITH, OBEDIENCE and SACRIFICE. We see in Abraham, all these three converging. No wonder he is the father of faith!
1- ABRAHAM TRUSTED GOD: FAITH
All that Abraham had for a reason was nothing but, “God asked him to move…” This is faith!
“3 and [GOD] said to him, ‘Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.’ 4 Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans and dwelt in Haran.'” – Acts 7:3
2- ABRAHAM OBEYED GOD
Abraham Obeyed God and Walked without knowing any details of what the LORD was asking of him.
“4 So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.” – Genesis 12:4
3- ABRAHAM WAS WILLING TO SACRIFICE THE CLOSEST THING TO HIS HEART
Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac, the promised son, and the closest to his heart, as the LORD had asked for.
“9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.” – Genesis 22:9-10
When we deeply love God, we will walk the way of FAITH, OBEDIENCE AND SACRIFICE. These are the traits of a healthy Christian heart. Abraham led the way for us. How are we doing today?
"When we come to an understanding of how much (God) loves us, we'll be able to truly trust Him no matter what circumstances come our way. Receive His divine love today, and release the need to control every situation. His peace will cover you."
