The walk on the “Narrow Way” is not easy. It was never meant to be so. This is obvious from the words of our LORD – “13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14.
Though the journey is tough and demanding, we need not be discouraged. The LORD has His ways to support and sustain us through it all. Here under are a few “Pillars of Faith” that will help us stand strong, through any storm. They do help me, and I am sure, they will help you too.
1- GOD NEVER LEAVES US – NEVER FORGET: It is good to remember, and never to forget that, the LORD never leaves our side. He will stand with us, and will surely help us.
Deuteronomy 31:6-8 – “6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” 7 Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel…8 And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
2- TRUST WHAT GOD SAYS – AT ALL TIMES, LEAN ON THE LORD: Whatever may be our situation, and whatever may be our doubts, always learn to trust God, and forget not, to lean upon Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
3- UNLESS THE LORD BUILDS – KNOW THIS: Many times we may think, the progress in life is, because of us, and our own efforts. It is required for us to work, and it sure is healthy. But, the LORD is One, who is the source and the sustainer of all things, in our lives.
Psalms 127:1 – “1 Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.”
4- WALK BY FAITH – NEVER BY SIGHT: Many a times, on the Narrow Way, it will get dark. We may not be able to see things with clarity. It pays us well to learn to trust God, and walk by faith in His Word, and on His character, than rely on our instincts and our insights.
2 Corinthians 5:7 – “7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
5- RUN WITH PATIENCE – DONT BE HASTY: The walk of our faith is like a long-distance race. It takes much more than mere physical strength to complete it well. Let us never forget this.
Hebrews 12:1 – “1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”
6- IMMUTABLE LORD – ALWAYS REMEMBER: Knowing who our LORD is, is the most critical aspect of our journey, as a Christian. The LORD is faithful and trustworthy. He doesn’t change as does the wind. He is immutable!
Numbers 23:19 – “19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
7- THE LORD LOVES US – THIS MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE: The LORD loves and cares for us. He is our everything. May this comfort us and help us.
Isaiah 41:10 – “10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness…13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. 14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”
May the LORD help us to walk faithfully in His ways. It is us who need to make up our mind. The is always willing to stand with us, and sustain us through the narrow way.
