Many times, we assume that our happiness, joy and peace is in achieving or attaining something. Therefore, human beings run after things, to fill that void, thinking it will give us that “ABUNDANT” or “successful” life. Wish it was true. Many Christians also chase such dreams, in the hope of having an “ABUNDANT” life.
Francis Chan’s words are a very good way to look at life and success, from a Christian perspective – “Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.”
– Success is not merely about winning, and failure is not merely about losing.
– Life is not about winning and losing. Life is about living. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose.
– Life is not some race, that we need to go about it, in a mad rush. Relax and take one step at a time.
– Some of the best things in life happen, when we are doing “nothing” and “whiling away” our time.
– Life and success comes to those who are steady and consistent. The fast and the furious may appear like dashing ahead with great speed.
– Life, as I know, does not belong to the quick and swiftest… the ruthless and the cutthroats…it belongs to those, who walk with patience and perseverance, steadily plodding their way, towards their goals, in all righteousness and integrity.
Success and progress is much more than money, status, power and accolades. Success is about being a blessing. It is about making our life useful to those in need, and are helpless.
Life and its success, is not, and should not be measured by, what one achieves, from an earthly perspective. What the LORD calls as success, is the true and lasting success. Have you not read what the LORD Jesus said to the disciples?
“15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” “36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” “17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” – Luke 12:15, Mark 8:36-37, Colossians 3:17
"On earth we have nothing to do with success or its results, but only being true to God and for God; for it is sincerity and not success which is the sweet savour before God."
