We live in an upside down world today, where good is considered bad, and bad is considered good. For example, there was a time when people in general affirmed that, everyone should speak the truth, and that lies are not only and bad but are immoral and sinful. I have heard my teachers instructing the students in a secular school, to always speak the truth, and never to lie. Now we have no one speaking about the truth and its importance at all.
The Bible speaks very clearly about truth, lies and moral values that one ought to uphold as a Christian. The LORD is telling us something that we all should seriously take note of.
– “28 In the way of righteousness is life, And in its pathway there is no death.” – Proverbs 12:28
As a Christian it is imperative upon us to walk the path way of righteousness. Now, what do we mean by the “Way of Righteousness?” It is the “Way of the LORD” – it is the way which the LORD our Creator and Redeemer had clearly expressed in the Bible. We are called to walk according to its standards.
– “The paths of righteousness are not defined by majority opinion or societal norms, but by the very God who created us. He who spoke all things into existence certainly has been very clear in His Word about what He defines as right—and what He defines as wrong.” – Gwendolyn Harmon
When we walk the “Way of Righteousness” we walk in the light; we walk in good paths; we walk in the right way; we walk in the correct manner…as was intended by the Creator God.
1- IN THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS LIFE
Life is much more than being alive. When we walk the way which our LORD wants us to, then we are truly alive and are actually living how we were intended to live.
– “18 The wicked man does deceptive work, But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. 19 As righteousness leads to life, So he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death. 20 Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the LORD, But the blameless in their ways are His delight. 21 Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.” – Proverbs 11:18-21
2- IN ITS PATHWAY THERE IS NO DEATH
The “Way of Righteousness” not only bestows life to all who walk on it, but also, there is no death to all who desire to walk on its paths. Death is not only sad but also bad. Death is permanent and is irrevocable. There is nothing worthwhile in death, except destruction. When we walk the “Way of Righteousness” we are blessed with life with no threat of death hanging over our heads.
– “18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. 19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.” – Proverbs 4:18-19
Man wishes to walk in rebellion against God his Creator. Man stubbornly rejects the gracious offer of salvation by the LORD Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. Man chooses his own path, which he thinks is right and good. Let us be care dear brothers and sisters of the “Ways of the World” – let us not contaminate ourselves with the values, ethics and principles that the world practices and offers. Death and destruction is written all over it.
– “12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” – Proverbs 14:12
– “8 A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, Shall not go astray.” – Isaiah 35:8
Let us earnestly seek the LORD Jesus, and ask Him to help us walk in the “Way of Righteousness” at all times. Let us seek His grace to help us walk steadily and unwaveringly. The world may throw all what it has to crush us into its mould. Let us not give up, but rather, tenaciously hold on and continue to walk the “Way of Righteousness.” Even so, the LORD help us.
"The practice of righteousness, though it expose a man to some dangers and inconveniences in the world, through the corruption of mankind, and the malice of the devil, yet it will certainly lead a man to life and happiness; whereas the end of all the wicked is death and destruction."
