LEARNING TO BE STILL

Being still is one of the first and also one of the most important lessons that a Christian has to learn in the School of Discipleship that our LORD Jesus puts us through. Hence we are called to be still…
– “10 Be still, and know that I am God…” – Psalm 46:10

The LORD our God, our Creator, and our Redeemer is, the God of the whole universe. He is the God of every situation. Nothing is impossible for Him. He is well aware of all what we are going through. He is the only One well capable to help us, and to keep us safe, through every struggle and every storm. Therefore we are called to trust our LORD and to be still…
– “​1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah” – Psalm 46:1-3

Being still means much more than merely not moving or doing nothing. Being still means to wait upon the LORD Jesus trustingly and patiently; and to depend upon Him in the hope that He will do all what we need, in the face of dark, disheartening and threatening clouds of discouragement and disappointment, that are raining upon us, struggles, sufferings and the storms.
– Being still is not a one-time event in our lives. 
– As long as we are in this flesh and blood, we are constantly hit by the fiery darts of the evil one. 
– Every dart from the enemy is poisonous, and is intended to burn us down mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. 
– We are absolutely Ill equipped to face them, let alone overcome them. 
– The LORD Jesus has to defend us and defeat our enemy and all his schemes. 
Therefore we are called by the LORD in Psalm 46:10 to trust Him and to wait upon Him in the face of all what is thrown at us by our enemy.
Hence we are called to be still…
– “10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” – Psalm 46:10

May we always learn to SEEK the LORD Jesus. May we always learn to TRUST Him. May we always learn to “BE STILL” and WAIT upon our LORD, whatever may be the situation we are in; and however strong the winds may be, that are hitting us; and with whatever strength the raging storms may engulf us. Our LORD Jesus cares for us, and He will stand right beside us in the storm and our suffering, and will lead us through it all. 
– “13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” – Exodus 14:13-14

Let us therefore learn to “BE STILL” and “KNOW that our LORD is truly the God of all the earth, and of every situation we will ever face, and trust Him to lead us through it all.” Even so, the LORD help us.
