There are many good things that we enjoy in life. There are many things that we think are good, and very much like them, though others may not feel the same way. What do we think about praising the LORD our God? What do we think about His love and faithfulness towards us?
The Psalmist who wrote Psalm 92 has some very important words for us in verses one and two, in regards to the question we raised above. Let us look at them, and meditate upon it.
– “1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night,” – Psalm 92:1-2
I like the way this Psalm begins – “It is good to give thanks to the LORD.”
– “IT IS GOOD” is an expression that is born out of a deep gratitude and immense joy one has for God Almighty, the LORD Jesus Christ.
– For someone to feel that way, they should have experienced something truly GREAT, which is much NEEDED personally, and absolutely and completely SATISFYING, with no urge or need for anything else.
What experiences of God do we have personally, which can qualify as truly GREAT, much NEEDED, and absolutely and completely SATISFYING? When something is truly GREAT, which is much NEEDED by us, and that which is absolutely and completely SATISFYING to us, then praise and gratitude will break forth automatically. It has more to do with we realising them, than we experiencing them.
God has already done so much for us. Many times we don’t realise them. We are blind and deaf towards all what the LORD Jesus had done for us from the moment we are born, even till this day. This spiritual condition that we have hinders us, and blocks us from praising and thanking God wholeheartedly.
Can we list out some things that we can be thankful and grateful to God for? Can we list from our personal lives? Do we have such experiences in our lives? When we do so, we would wholeheartedly declare like David, the praises of God.
– “8 Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! 10 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! 11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore! 12 Remember His marvellous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,” – 1 Chronicles 16:8-12
Let us make a list, and shout out aloud, our grateful thanks and praise to the LORD our God, this morning. Even so, the LORD help us.
"Praising the LORD is described as "good," indicating that it is both beneficial and morally right. This aligns with the biblical theme that worship is a central duty of humanity (Psalm 147:1). Praise is an acknowledgment of God's character and deeds, and it is fitting for His people to express gratitude and reverence. The act of praising God is seen throughout the Psalms and is a response to His goodness and faithfulness (Psalm 100:4-5)."
